SAF Leopoldina's path towards access.

SAF Leopoldina remains firmly in the running for the Minas Gerais Championship and in the pursuit of the long-awaited promotion to the elite of state football.

The competition is being played in four phases: qualifying phase, quarterfinals, semifinals and final.

In the qualifying phase, the teams in each group face each other in home and away matches. At the end of this stage, the eight clubs with the best overall record advance to the quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals, the eight qualified teams compete in knockout matches played over two legs, with the following pairings: 1st place against 8th, 2nd against 7th, 3rd against 6th and 4th against 5th , always according to the overall standings.

The four winning teams advance to the semifinals, which will also be played in two-legged matches. The matchups will be determined by overall performance: the 1st place team faces the 4th, while the 2nd faces the 3rd .

The winners of the semifinals secure a spot in the grand final of the competition, which will be played over two legs. The team with the best overall record will have the advantage of playing the decisive match at home.

In addition to competing for the trophy, the two finalist clubs achieve the main objective of the season: promotion to the top division of Minas Gerais football.
